Competition by invitation
For this hotel development in South Tyrol, G22 Projects, in collaboration with Snøhetta, was asked to submit a design proposal reimagining a classic Grand Hotel and reinterpreting it for an Alpine context.
The monumental character, symmetry, and repetitive compositional elements of the classic style are deconstructed, and the familiar image is recreated through the use of separate buildings. A play of perspectives on the approach to the hotel preserves grandeur, hierarchy, and symmetry, and the strength of the Grand Hotel concept is maintained.
