Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt
The redesign and modernisation of the interior areas of the Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt on Lake Tegernsee, comprising the sauna, indoor pool, relaxation areas, spa restaurant, spa reception and yoga room, has created an exclusive retreat that combines contemporary elegance with the natural atmosphere of the hotel. Guided by the concept of “Elegant Nature International”, G22 Projects developed a holistic spatial and design concept that brings together architecture, materials, lighting and atmosphere to create a distinctive spa experience.
At the heart of the design is the interplay of space, materials and atmosphere. A clearly structured sequence of spaces guides guests through the different areas, creating a balanced interplay between openness and intimacy. Fluid transitions and carefully positioned sightlines connect the individual areas, while more secluded spatial sequences provide places for retreat and relaxation. Vertical slats and rhythmically arranged architectural elements lend depth and structure to the interiors, shaping the perception of space. The result is a harmonious spatial environment that unfolds intuitively while continually revealing new perspectives.
The choice of materials plays a defining role in establishing the identity of the new spa area. Dark smoked oak, bronze-coloured metal accents and textured surfaces meet muted earth and beige tones, creating a warm, sensuous and at the same time elegant atmosphere. Stone finishes and selected marble-effect surfaces complement the material concept, lending the interiors a timeless and refined character. The deliberate combination of different textures and finishes creates a layered material experience. In the sauna and relaxation areas, dark, enveloping tones foster a sense of intimacy and retreat, while lighter natural shades, transparent elements and reflective surfaces introduce a sense of lightness and spatial openness.
Lighting is conceived as an integral part of the spatial experience. Indirect illumination, warm colour temperatures and precisely positioned light sources emphasise the materials and create carefully considered accents. Particularly in the pool area, the interplay of light, water and reflective surfaces creates a distinctive sense of spatial depth. The carefully balanced combination of light, colour, texture and spatial proportions creates a harmonious yet atmospheric environment in which architecture, elegance and tranquillity exist in perfect balance.
